Check an EORI number

Enter up to ten GB or XI EORI numbers. We check each with HMRC and return whether it is valid and, where published, the trader's name and address.

What is an EORI number?

An Economic Operators Registration and Identification number identifies a business to customs. UK numbers start GB (or XI for Northern Ireland) followed by 12–15 digits, usually the VAT number plus 000.

Do I need an EORI number?

Yes if you move goods between Great Britain and any other country, including the EU. You do not need one for services only.

Can I check EU EORI numbers here?

No — this tool checks GB and XI numbers with HMRC. EU numbers are checked on the European Commission EOS site.
